We invest in the future
Education is the key to progress for children, families and society at large. It lays a foundation for brighter prospects for the future for girls and boys, helping them achieve their dreams of a better life. The key to gaining access to and benefits from schooling is growing up in a family that can provide stable, good care.
In collaboration with SOS Children's Villages International, Komplett supports efforts to provide education for disadvantaged children in Kitwe, Zambia. Abject poverty means that many families are unable to send their children to school, and the lack of education is a huge problem. More education is essential in the fight against diseases that can be prevented, such as malaria and HIV/AIDS.
Those of us at Komplett would like to help girls and boys get equal opportunities to finish school. This will contribute to greater equality and a more democratic society. Both Komplett and its individual co-workers contribute financial support to the project.
SOS Children's Villages International began working in Kitwe in 2004. In recent years, the outreach work done through the SOS Family Strengthening Programmes has become increasingly important. The programme reaches more than 4 550 individuals in more than 700 families. The goal is to make families independent and give children the security, care, education and health care they need. For children from the region who can no longer live with their families, 16 SOS families can offer loving homes for up to 192 children. In each family, the children live with their brothers and sisters, under the care of an SOS mother.
Together with SOS Children's Villages International, we at Komplett help ensure that children and young people are cared for by responsible adults in a good home and that they have a chance to get an education.
